In between working to close a lucrative real estate deal for a shady individual and navigating a complex relationship with her boyfriend, Mel conducts a critical time investigation to find her doppelganger, who could offer a lifeline to her dying father in need of matching stem cells to fight leukemia. But Mel is not prepared for what she will learn about her family’s past, diving into the world of the Italian mafia that changes everything she thought she knew about her parents…and herself.

Breaking up this tale into a before and after the big reveal, with the suspense building up to the shocking revelations that change the whole narrative, followed by the uncertainty of how things will play out now that the cat is out of the bag. It also serves as a journey of self-discover for Mel that changes her in a profound way that requires readers to decide if it’s for the better or worse. All of which infuses a psychological tension and a sense of foreboding throughout the story.
