She Fell Away from Lenore Nash is inspiring and alluring and I’m glad I had the chance to read this one. Highlighting both the good and bad in humanity, Nash delivers a sensational story of determination and the need for truth.
Lake Harlowe is new to New Zealand and her diplomatic role as an State Department Officer assisting Americans abroad. Recently moved from another location in Cambodia, Harlowe is working with local New Zealand authorities after the death of a promising NFL athlete hits the news. Working to help Americans repatriate their kin and coordinating notifications, Harlowe is also pulled in on a missing person’s case involving American singer-songwriter Bowie Bishop.
Harlowe must navigate the gauntlet of a dysfunctional embassy including an arrogant and rude Ambassador, a local family with political ties, and the weight of a Las Vegas Casino family. There also may be a failed female rocker with dreams the size of cruise ships that throws in a wrinkle or two as well. Lake dutifully prepares and executes what she deems right as the pursuit if truth and justice, and the life of one promising young woman are held in balance.
This was my first Lenore Nash read but what I pulled from her writing and style is the firsthand emotion. While this story feels like a case she may have seen bits and pieces of from her time in the service of our country, the authenticity combined with the feelings she’s penned forces the reader to feel the emotion throughout. She develops the storyline highlighting Bowie’s past issues and secrets, while tying those in with the secrets that Lake Harlowe is hiding.
I clearly didn’t have this on my 2026 bingo card, but I am absolutely thrilled with this story and Nash nailed it. Creative, intriguing, and more importantly, full of emotion. You can find any number of words to categorize the excitement of She Fell Away, but it is one that will pull you in form the start and not let go until the very end. I wasn’t a Lenore Nash fan last week and now I’m 100% waiting for her next adventure.
