Amira By Matthew Betley

Very few authors in the thriller genre can craft an in your face, throat punch of an action sequence like Matthew Betley. This is something readers have come to expect and Betley continues to deliver each and every time. Though technically a novella, Amira includes as much action and entertainment as a full length novel. As a huge fan of the Logan West series and universe, I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I started reading.

With the focus being squarely on the origin story and the events that have led up to Task Force Ares member Amira Cerone finding herself restrained to a chair and at the mercy of two unknown assailants. Alone and bound, Amira must dig deep into her reserve of courage and resilience. As she quickly learns, her past has finally caught up to her and the question is, what does that mean for her immediate future?

What is great about Betley’s writing is while his style can best be described as a Hollywood blockbuster on the page, it’s the small character development and emotional points in the story that really hit home for me and so many readers. Touching on instances from previous books, fans of the Logan West series are able to fill in the small gaps in those stories making me want to reread them all over again.

Amira is a story that you’re going to slam out in one sitting. So grab yourself a copy and then buckle up, because once you start reading… you’re not going to stop.
