Truth To Power By S.A. Cosby

Stepping outside my usual reading lane for Truth to Power by S. A. Cosby was an easy decision for two reasons: (1) Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, and (2)  the fact that it is S. A. Cosby behind the wheel. What I didn't expect was just how much fun it would be to stretch my imagination into the superhero universe while still getting the gritty, hard hitting storytelling Cosby does so well. His voice rings through every page, bringing his signature intensity, sharp observations, and unflinching look at human nature to Marvel's bulletproof hero.

When Luke Cage leaves Harlem for rural Virginia to investigate his cousin's suspicious death, he finds himself facing far more than a dangerous adversary. Beneath the surface lies a community shaped by prejudice, corruption, and entrenched power structures, where the official version of the truth doesn't always tell the whole story. Luke's greatest challenge isn't simply taking down the bad guys. It's learning when to temper his strength, when to listen, and how to protect people who cannot protect themselves without allowing anger and grief to dictate his choices. His unbreakable skin doesn't make him immune to loss, guilt, or the moral weight of doing what is right.

Family, justice, racism, and the abuse of power give this story substance beyond the action, while Cosby asks a question that feels every bit as relevant outside the superhero world: Who gets to define the truth, and what happens when the people with the power have the most to hide? Truth to Power proves that even in a world of extraordinary abilities, the hardest battles are often the ones rooted in ordinary human cruelty.
