A Violent Gospel By Mark Westmoreland

Mack Dooley and his brother Marshall are up to no good. In Tugalo County, there is a church of snake-whispering preachers and patrons that's raking in bigggg money...money ripe for the taking.

From the get-go, Westmoreland grabs you by the literary lapels and drags you into a world that's as gritty as a cat's tongue and as unpredictable as a game of Jenga played by a team of LSD-fueled squirrels. I must warn you, though: this book is not for the faint of heart or those who cry during Sarah McLachlan commercials. Strap in – it's a wild ride!

The plot is a labyrinth of twists and turns, and just when you think you've got it all figured out, Westmoreland throws in a curveball that would make Nolan Ryan jealous. It's a literary rollercoaster.

Told in the first person from Mack 'Coy' Dooley, you get deeper insight into the characters than a proctologist. A Violent Gospel doesn't just tiptoe into the dark side; it does a full-on moonwalk into the shadows. The juxtaposition of humor and darkness creates a narrative dance that keeps you on your toes, wondering if you should laugh or shudder – sometimes both. It's a book that can cross genres - I'm going to remember this book for a long time.
