What I really enjoyed about Blood & Treasure was the way Pote naturally weaves modern geopolitical intrigue with biblical history. Ethan and his team are in the midst of the biggest recovery mission of their lives, searching for an ancient bronze scroll and the legendary Ark of the Covenant, when the orbital disaster literally crashes into their operation. The historical elements never feel gimmicky or forced. Instead, they heighten the tension while perfectly complementing the military action and covert operations. The plot grows increasingly compelling as a ruthless faction of Iranian operatives tracks Ethan's every move, determined to seize the artifacts for their own geopolitical ambitions, transforming the archaeological expedition into a deadly game of cat and mouse with global security ramifications.
In Ethan Cain, Pote has created a compelling protagonist—resourceful, grounded, and immensely likable. His rescue of Moj Zahedi, the lone injured survivor found inside the sunken space capsule, gives the relentless action genuine emotional weight while raising the stakes even further. As Ethan and Moj struggle to stay one step ahead of their pursuers, the narrative skillfully connects the chaos unfolding on Earth to an even greater threat in orbit: a weaponized space platform directly linked to the massacre aboard the ISS.
The pacing is relentless without ever sacrificing character development or thoughtful world-building. Every chapter ends on a razor-sharp cliffhanger, compelling readers to keep turning the pages whether the story unfolds 254 miles above Earth, beneath the Indian Ocean, or deep within the African wilderness.
