Sleeping Bear By Connor Sullivan

Connor Sullivan rips onto the thriller stage with his debut novel Sleeping Bear! It’s expertly written with great intrigue, suspense, and great reveals throughout the read. This novel is primarily based in Alaska, and as someone who grew up there, I highly enjoyed it. It made me homesick in portions with the descriptions of locations. Really great read all around!

In this novel, we meet Cassie Gale, a US Army veteran, who comes to Alaska to take advantage of the great expanse of solitude the state offers. When Cassie goes missing, she becomes one of the thousands to disappear from the Alaska wilds. When her father James Gale, a man with great skill, comes to search for her, it becomes glaringly clear that this is not a normal missing person case. In fact, nothing is as it appears in regards to Cassie’s disappearance, or with the countless other lost soles from the Alaskan wilderness.

Gale has a past that not even his own daughters know about, and it has reared its ugly head and taken his youngest daughter. As Cassie wakes, she must rely upon every ounce of grit she posses to survive, for the stakes are high in the far north.

Sullivan has created a cast of strong characters in an impossible situation. The reader feels every bit of desperation and fear the characters go through. Since each character has this moving depth to them, the reader has an emotional roller coaster ride throughout the entire book. This is a great debut and I’m so excited to see what else he has in store!
