Welcome to Cottonmouth is fantastic, built off one extremely unique storyline. Recommended by fellow BTB reviewer Theresa Brock, I couldn’t not give this a read after she raved about it. Bell drives intrigue from the very beginning surrounding a deadly hole in the wall town that hides some very shadowy figures.
Devlin Mahoney is just minding about his own business in Cottonmouth, Texas when a storm comes rolling in. Tending his desk at the local motel, Mahoney is taken back when a beauty named Britt Thorpe walks in with a little girl in tow. Needing a room while her car is fixed, things turn deadly in a hurry.
Mahoney and the other dangerous people living in Cottonmouth come to the rescue of Britt and tag-a-long Siobhan. Being hunted down by some bad guys from out of state, Mahoney must choose whether to get involved or do as he’s told and lay low and not draw attention to their sleep little hideout.
Not giving away any spoilers in this story as it’s one of the most unique but satisfying stories I’ve read in some time. It’s so fun and energetic but built off something that you’d never really think about. The team of characters that Bell puts together in Cottonmouth are premier, or at least at one point in their lives they were. Chained to a location to keep them and the world safe, Bell highlights their never fear attitude and their ability to disregard orders with the best of them.
I’d challenge everyone to read this book only because of the creativity on every page. Clearly Theresa knew what she was talking about and I’m glad I took her recommendation and you won’t be disappointed in this one.
