Benjamin Spada knows violence and speed; two things that make The Warmaker a blockbuster read. The Black Spear team is incredibly successful while completing mission after mission, saving thousands of lives while making the world a safer place. What they lack is the tools to allow them to reign supreme over all threats worldwide. Insert Samuel Cain.
Faced with some of the most abnormal deaths of prominent US figures, West and team are brought into the graces of Common Defense Industries and their genius owner, Samuel Cain. Cain supplies the squads of Spear with futuristic prototypical style weapons that give them a competitive edge. Facing off against countless dynamic and well-trained groups, West and squad are dealt a vicious blow at the hands of two extremely deft knife wielders.
Pushing through as any good door kicker would, West follows Captain Vaun through hell and back battling visible enemies as those that are invisible begin to strike. Striking with everything they have, they are on a mission to save someone important and stop a looming war with dire consequences.
The Warmaker has been out for quite a while, but in reading this to prepare for the next Black Spear installment, I’m reminded of how much excitement Spada creates. Vicious and calculated hand to hand combat, premier weaponry, and amazing action scenes highlight everything you could want in The Warmaker. There is no shortage of gun fights and battles or banter between teammates and it is full speed from beginning to end. Don’t pass up Spada’s first FNG or this as they will get your heart beating fast.
