Just south of the District of Columbia, a Supreme Court Justice is brutally murdered in what is mounting to be the start of a seditious plot. Chill has been having one hell of a day, previously losing her father, best friend, and now her sister, Hailey takes a trip down whiskey avenue with another woman’s man. Following a sit down with Andrew Wilde, her deep state handler, Chill is on a quick flight to Hawaii to help with Supreme Court Justice Anita Fischer’s security detail.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Terry Shaw, who runs Fischers detail, is dragged into a situation where he must assassinate the justice or have the blood of a school bus full of kids on his hands. Not only does Chill take a few wrong steps as soon as she hits the island, but she’s also battling an internal demon as she’s attempting to cut alcohol.
As Mexican mercenaries continue their savagery through the Hawaiian Islands, multiple deaths and mistakes lead to the deeper state and fellow groups tracking the criminals at large. The crescendo towards disaster builds and builds until a plan finally comes together as Chill must ensure the safety of one of the most highly appointed officials in America.
Hauty has another fantastic adventure as he shows the torment that Chill deals with day in and day out. The mystery and suspense that follows Hailey Chill is the perfect amount of grace with a splash of crazy. With her rejuvenating and sparkling personality. The political climate in America is mirrored throughout while leaving a large portion of the book narrative non-political. The creative storyline is great while we still get to learn who Chill is as she grows as an operative for the deeper state.
